The survey starts with the existing glazing. We check the visible unit size, frame condition, spacer details where available and whether the frame is suitable for a replacement sealed unit containing integral blinds.
This check is essential when you want blinds inside the existing window frame. The blind is not added loose inside the frame; it is manufactured inside a new sealed glass unit that must fit correctly.
Morley feasibility data gives different minimums, maximums and width bands for each system. For example, SL20/22 SV Venetian systems are listed at 300mm to 1500mm wide and 450mm to 2200mm high, subject to width bands.
Most standard Venetian systems use 20mm, 22mm, 27mm or 29mm cavities. SL16 is the slim-fit route for 16mm cavities and 24mm IGUs where suitable existing frames need a slimmer unit.
Manual and magnetic controls need comfortable reach. Battery systems need sensible access for charging. Hard-wired systems need a planned cable route and may need coordination with an electrician.
Large doors, awkward corners, high-level glazing and commercial partitions all need a practical control decision before ordering.
We consider safe access, parking, route to the glazing, internal finishes and how the old sealed units will be removed. The goal is a clean replacement process with minimal disruption to the existing frames.
Any risks or limitations should be raised before manufacture, because integral blind units are made to size and specification.
